I have a lot of thoughts on life.

Prepare for the Probable

This is much more philosophy than a theory, so do with it as you wish.

A rule of thumb that many people live by is “prepare for the worst”. I disagree with this rule though. I say, prepare for the probable, and if something improbable happens, learn to adapt to it.

It’s a bit longer, but it’s how I live my life. If you prepare for the worst all the time, you end up over preparing most of the time. So my first point is that time is valuable and shouldn’t be wasted.

Secondly, if you don’t put yourself in situations that require adaptation, you never learn to adapt at all. You never learn to deal with disappointment, you never learn to think on your feet. Adaptation is the most important skill you can learn, because one thing that will never go away is change itself.

Lastly, life is too short to be planned out. Live on the edge, be a little spontaneous. You might surprise yourself and enjoy the lack of security.
